A spreading shrub of a rounded habit, it is a male cultivar recommended as a pollinator for female sea-buckthorns. Does not yield fruit but it has pretty, silvery leaves. It is resilient and undemanding.

HOW IT LOOKS LIKE: Modest yellow flowers appear in March-April. Leaves decorative, lanceolate, silvery in vegetation season, turn yellow in autumn. Shoots quite thin, thorny.

HOW IT GROWS: A spreading shrub of a rounded habit. Reaches 3-4 m height.

WHERE TO PLANT: It grows well in almost any soil, however it does not like permanently soggy ground. It thrives in light, moderately permeable soil of slightly acidic or neutral pH. A well-rooted plant withstands drought. The cultivar is resilient to air pollution. Prefers sunny sites. Its root system is shallow and produces root suckers.  Fully frost hardy (zone 3˗7).

HOW TO PLANT AND MAINTAIN: Before planting immerse the plant container in water for 10-30 min. Place the root ball in a 40 x 40 x 40 cm hole with a 10 cm layer of well-rotten manure or compost, 0.5-1 cm deeper than it was before. Fill the hole with fertile soil. Does not require regular pruning. It tolerates pruning as long as it's performed on one- and two-year-old shoots.

HOW TO APPLY: The shrub is recommended for house gardens to complement female cultivars.  Due to its low demands and high resilience to air pollution it is an ideal choice for public green spaces and parks.

ORIGIN: Selected by Hans Joachim Albrecht of BBC Baumschulen Berlin Containerpflanzen GmbH. The cultivar introduced in the market in 1983.
