Low growing, procumbent, evergreen shrub of compact  habit and attractive leaves ˗ evergreen with  pronounced cream-coloured splashes that turn pinkish in autumn and winter. A great cover plant for large gardens and public areas.

WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE: Leaves decorative, rather small, of narrow oval shape, evergreen with  pronounced cream-coloured splashes that turn pinkish in autumn and winter. Shoots are green, trailing, with aerial roots.

HOW IT GROWS: A procumbent shrub with trailing shoots that develop aerial roots enabling them to climb and spread. Slow growing, reaching 0.3-0.5 m.

WHERE TO PLANT: Thrives in semi-shaded sites (sunlight can burn the leaves). Grows well in moderate soils, moist but well-drained. Does not tolerate waterlogged ground. Soil pH from acidic to alkaline. Not fully hardy (Zone 6˗8).

HOW TO PLANT AND MAINTAIN: Before planting immerse the plant container in water for 10-30 min. Place the plant in a 30 x 30 x 30 cm hole covered at the bottom with a 10 cm of well-rotten manure or compost, 0.5-1 cm deeper than it was before. Fill in the hole with fertile soil. Plant 10-15 pcs/m2. Slow growing, not expansive, therefore does not require pruning. For winter protection cover e.g. with coniferous branches.

HOW TO APPLY: An excellent ground cover for small spaces, best displayed in the foreground. Ideally suited for container cultivation.

ORIGIN: Introduced by Brookeside Gardens, Maryland, USA in 1990.

AWARDS: Silver medal at Plantarium Exhibition, Netherlands 1993.
