An English variety of unusual flowers, about 10 cm in diameter. They have light crimson-purple, narrow, pointy petals and exceptionally decorative, long, purple outer filaments. Flowers are lightly scented, in bloom throughout the summer and early autumn. Orange-yellow, oval fruit are edible but not very tasty. Leaves semi-evergreen with 3 well pronounced lobes. The plant twines around supports by means of adventitious roots. It requires sheltered, sunny and warm sites and fertile, well drained soil. It is susceptible to spider mite. It survives frost up to circa -5oC. It should be wintered in frostproof sites. Recommended for container cultivation on terraces, balconies or in conservatories.
