A cross between Campsis grandiflora and Campsis radicans selected in 19th century. A moderately vigorous climber with attractive, large (up to 8 cm long and 7 cm wide) tubular, orange flowers. Blooms profusely from July to September. It starts flowering in the third – fourth year after planting. For best flowering grow in a sheltered, warm and sunny site, in moderately fertile and not too wet soil. It climbs by adventitious roots but requires tying when young. Suitable for growing on various supports, e.g. arbours, pergolas. Particularly useful for covering walls and strong supports. It can freeze in harsh winters, but will regenerate. Good for cultivation in regions with a milder climate.
