Clematis 'Betty Risdon'

Latin name: Clematis 'Betty Risdon'
English name: Clematis 'Betty Risdon'
Flowers colour: creamy-pink edged in claret pink
Plants height: 2-3 m
Flowers size: Very big
Flowering month: V-VI, VII-IX
Aspect: W , E
Pruning way: 2 (light)
Frost hardiness: Zones 4 - 9

An unusual cultivar with beautiful large creamy flowers tinged with deep pink. Elliptical in shape and creamy-pink in color, elongated, somewhat curled tepals are edged in claret pink on the outside with the inner side being burgundy pink. Lilac rose filaments holding yellow anthers. Requires light pruning. It looks better in a shady spot as the flowers tend to fade quickly in a strong sun. Best planted in a sheltered position to prevent the damage of delicate flowers by the wind. Particularly useful for growing over a trellis, stakes or other garden supports. It can clamber through natural supports, such as deciduous and coniferous bushes, or dwarf shrubs as long as they don't require hard pruning. Makes a good container grower.
