A beautiful, self-clinging climber. The leaves are composed of 5 serrated leaflets, 4-6 cm long, dark green on the upper side, sometimes with a brownish shade, the underside is matt with a prominent silvery-white veining. They are green-purple when young and become green with age. In autumn the leaves turn bright scarlet. It attains the height of 3-5 m, growing 1-1,5 m annually. Since it freezes at temperatures around -18oC, in Poland it should only be grown in sheltered spots in the regions with the mildest climate. Useful for growing up walls, trees, pylons and all kinds of supports.
