Wine Grape 'Purpurea' |
An attractive climber with red-crimson foliage. It attaches itself to supports with twining tendrils. Best grown in fertile, moist but permeable soil that is rich in calcium, but it will tolerate moderate soil as well. It likes sunny, warm and well-aerated spots. When grown in shade, the leaves turn green. It can freeze in harsh winters. Ideal for colour compositions with shrubs, other climbers or trees with silvery foliage or fair flowers. |
