A charming and vigorous cultivar, a hybrid of Clematis potaninii var. fargesii and Clematis tangutica. Very free-flowering from July to September. White flowers with a tuft of golden stamens unfurl from creamy white semi-nodding buds. Requires hard pruning. It has little soil requirements and will perform well in all but waterlogged soils, so good drainage is essential. Prefers sunny sites.
Particularly useful for all kinds of tall supports, fences, arbors and pergolas. Makes a good screening plant, excellent for covering unsightly buildings or scaling tall shrubs, trees or dead tree trunks.
