Beginnings

The nursery was founded in 1988 in Jawczyce

near Warsaw on a leased field of 0.5 ha space. The founders were D.sc. Szczepan Marczyński, then a researcher and lecturer at the Horticulture
Faculty of The Warsaw Agricultural University and M.sc. Władysław Piotrowski. It was the first nursery in Poland specialized in growing Clematis
and other climbers on a large scale. The production began with about 1000 Clematis of 20 cultivars. In subsequent years both the number
of plants and cultivated species and cultivars increased, despite many shortages of production means and materials such as peat, modern
fertilizers, containers and plant supports. Everything had to be either garnered or substituted by own inventions. Not only ready-for-sale plants
were produced but also rooted cuttings sold to foreign nurseries. The first 10 thousand rooted cuttings were exported to Norway in 1990 and
in 1991 dozens of thousands were sold to Austria, Denmark, Holland, Norway, Germany and Great Britain. By 1993 the nursery exported plants
to 12 different countries amongst which were the U.S.A.
