A Russian cultivar with crimson-purple velvety flowers with a paler central bar, borne from July to September. The flowers are up to 10 cm in diameter and can comprise between 4 and 6 sepals. The stamens are composed of white filaments bearing small violet anthers. It reaches the height of 2-3 m. Ideal for trellises, fences, poles and other garden supports. It can be trained into high deciduous and coniferous trees. It looks its best against a fair background.
