English name: Clematis 'Kaśka'
Flowers colour: deep yellow
Plants height: 3-4 m

A new, attractive Polish cultivar of large yellow flowers and compact habit. Robust and easy to maintain.

WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE: Flowers large, 7˗9 cm across, bright yellow, bell-shaped, nodding. Bloom from the end of May even till mid-October. In place of the flowers decorative silky seed heads appear. Leaves small, green with blue hue.

HOW IT GROWS: A climber; uses leaf petioles for climbing. Cultivar of compact habit. Reaches 3-4 m height.

WHERE TO PLANT: Sunny and warm sites are the best choice. The plant prefers fertile, well-drained soil but grows equally well in average ground. The pH should range from neutral to slightly acidic. Frost hardy (zone 4˗9).

HOW TO PLANT AND MAINTAIN: Before planting immerse the plant container in water for 10-30 min.  Place the root ball in a 60 x 60 x 60 cm hole with a 10 cm layer of pebbles and gravel at the bottom. Cover the roots with a bucket of well-rotten manure or compost and fill up with fertile soil. Place the plant base 0,5-1 cm deeper than it was before. Plant at least 30 cm from walls and other plants.  The base should be in a shade. Cover the ground around the new plants with bark mulch and for winter protection pile it up to 10 cm.  At the end of February or at the beginning of March remove dead shoots and lightly prune the live ones – in the first year around 30 cm from the base, above the stronger buds, in the second year – 40 cm, and 50 cm in following seasons. In April fertilize with Osmocote 5-6 M and water adequately in growing season.

HOW TO APPLY: Suitable for growing along fences, arbours, pergolas and other tall garden supports. Looks charming when trained over smaller trees and shrubs. Contrasts beautifully with dark background. Easy to maintain.

ORIGIN: Poland. Raised by Szczepan Marczyński. In the market since 2017.
